Back at it again with the Mock Meats! What can I say, it can be easier to transition to vegan choices when we still have the option of (mostly) meat-like substitutions. This week, we tried Gardein's Turk'y Cutlets and weren't dissapointed!
I have long been a fan of Gardein products. It seems like they are always coming up with (mostly) satisfying approximations to my old favorite meaty dishes, and Mr. R generally isn't picky (thank goodness) so he is my co-guinea pig in plant-based cooking adventures!
Generally speaking, these are a huge win! I was craving comfort food, and these cutlets definitely delivered. The texture is just a teeny bit mock-meaty, but the breading is perfectly crispy and delicious. I actually liked the gravy even though I've never been a "gravy person". They cooked evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and I flipped them halfway through. Served with a baked potato (vegan butter!), mixed green salad, and broccoli, it definitely is going to be a cold-weather favorite, (with a glass of wine of course).
The fact that these cook so quickly was a huge plus! It only took about 20 minutes total to get a satisfying dinner put together, which meant more time for Netflix and dessert.
I hope you enjoy my product reviews. If you ever want me to test out one of your favorites, please send me a message!
